What do you need to be a successful affiliate marketer?

Isn’t that a good question: what do you need to be a successful affiliate marketer?fireworks

Building an online business is not always a piece of cake. That’s why not everyone is going to succeed. Here, I’m going to talk to you about the basic traits you need to become a successful affiliate marketer.

You need focus, you need patience, you need dedication, you need to prioritize building an online business and you need some money.

Why is focus important? Because when you get started in the affiliate marketing world, it’s easy to be overwhelmed. It’s easy to go for the next shiny object, the other project that seems to be more successful. It’s easy to make a lot of projects because you have a lot of enthusiasm when you are getting started.

You need to stay away from everything that will distract you from reaching your first goal which is making money online.

How do you do that? You need to focus. How do you focus? You make sure you choose one project at the time. Do ONE thing. Get good at it. Learn everything you can, take action and then, when you are good and you get good results, move onto the next task or project.

A lot of people who get caught in the thrill of making money online as fast as possible and what happens is that they start on too many projects.

Why does that happen? It’s because we see all these people online having big cars, big houses, going on vacation all year long, working from everywhere and having all the time in the world for themselves.

When you get started online you have been sold the dream of a better life. That’s why you feel in a rush to accomplish as many things as possible in as short of time as possible.

One of the keys to create a successful affiliate marketing business is to focus on one project at the time. If you are building a website focus on creating content for your website for a minimum of six months before thinking about doing something else.

If you are starting an email list, focus on creating your emails, on creating your funnels and on building that list before you start any other project.

The same thing applies with any way you want to do affiliate marketing whether it’s with a blog or with running ads. Stick to one method. Master it and then move to the next project.

Why do you need patience when you get started as an affiliate marketer? Unless you have a lot of money to spend on ads, it will take you some time to bring traffic to what you are creating online.

More and more entrepreneurs are now telling us that it takes a lot of work and a lot of time to build a business and to get results. It wasn’t the case a few months ago. So now, when you sign up for a course or training, you know that you will have to put in some time before you get to see any results.

Patience will be your best friend especially if you can stick to your plan for a minimum of six months( before you get to see any good results.) It can take you up to 3 years to be able to build good organic traffic and make a good income from your affiliate marketing business.

If you know people who didn’t succeed with an online business it’s probably because they didn’t stick around for the minimum 6 months, 6 months is like a magic number when you start getting some more traffic, you start getting more traction.

You know practice makes perfect, so the more you spend your time putting in action what you’ve learned, the easier it becomes, the better you become at creating content for whatever platform you’re using and it shows.

So if you come into that business knowing that you may not earn any money for a minimum of six months, the more chances you have to become successful because you know you’re not here only for the money.

What I mean here with dedication is that you need to stick to the way you want to do affiliate marketing for a minimum of one year. If it doesn’t work after one year, you have put in a minimum of 20 hours per week working on your business and you have put in action everything you’ve learned and it still doesn’t work, yes you can start over again.

The best thing you can do before you start is to do some research on how you can be an affiliate and find a program, a training or a way that you will do it that really suits who you are as a person. There are a few ways in the Webinars section.

So you want to stay away from the shiny object syndrome which is jumping on every opportunity or new trends that are happening in the affiliate marketing place.

Again, here, dedication goes with patience and focus.

You need to decide if your affiliate marketing business is going to be one of your priorities. You want to know how much time you have to spend on your business every day and every week.

The more time you spend growing your business, the faster you will get your results. The faster you will reach your goals.

It’s a lot of work when you get started because there are so many things to learn. Once you get in action and you start doing things, it gets easier every time you do them. You won’t have to spend as much time growing your business as you have to spend building your business.

Of course, if you’re a single mom or single dad, you may want to put your kids first, especially if they are little. That’s normal, but just keep in mind why you are starting an online business.

If you keep your goal in mind, it will be easier to reach it in a reasonable amount of time.

Prioritizing your business will require small sacrifices. Maybe you will take 20 minutes every night to work on your business and to learn new things related to your business before you go to sleep.

Maybe you will wake up 20 minutes or an hour before your kids or before you have to go to work or before you have to go to school to work on your business.

If you have a nine-to-five job, maybe you will take your lunch break to brainstorm ideas for your business. Do small sacrifices.

On the internet, especially on social media, we see a lot of billionaires mindset or millionaire mindset quotes and motivational quotes that are telling you to wake up at 5 and then go to the gym and then do an hour of yoga and then do this and do that.

Guess what? You don’t have to do any of these.

You have your own life and you get to decide how important building an affiliate marketing business is for you. You get to decide how much sacrifice you are willing to make in order to build that successful business.

You don’t have to feel guilty if you cannot spend more than 20 minutes everyday on building your business. It will take you much longer before you really get to see any results but it’s doable. You just have to keep doing it.

This goes with consistency. Be consistent with everything that concerns your business. It’s easy to go back to your routine. If you let that happen, you will never be able to catch up on what you have to do to make a successful online business.

You get away from your path to success when life happens. You know, when something is disrupting the plans you made for the day. Then it’s a snowball effect. There is always something that will stop you from building your business.

Don’t let it happen to you. Find a way to come back on track as fast as possible, even if having a girls’ night out that lasts 2 hours instead of 4. Small sacrifices.

As any other business, there are some costs you are going to encounter. Of course, you can get started for free but you will eventually have to get some money out of your pocket to get the most out of your business.

Just think about it that way if you were to buy a brick and mortar business, it could cost anything above $50,000. How much you need to get started with affiliate marketing really depends on your needs.

But if you want to grow and build your business as fast as possible I would suggest you have a starting budget at $2,000 for the first year.

Put it in perspective it’s not that much money if you have your own business.

If you really don’t have the money right now, like I said earlier there are ways you can get started for free but it’s not ideal on the long-term.

You may want to consider finding another source of income to gather $2,000 to get started online. Consider everything you can do to earn the amount of money. You can get a part-time job, drive for Uber, anything that can help you reach that first goal.

If you have more money you will have access to more training, to more resources and it will get easier for you to build your affiliate marketing business.

In Conclusion

When you want to be a successful affiliate marketer what you need to succeed is focus patience, dedication, the right priorities and money.

This is what you need to be a successful affiliate marketer. if you don’t have any of these maybe you should reconsider starting an online business. Maybe building a business isn’t for you. There are many other ways you can earn extra money.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of people will fail building an online business. It’s simple: they lack focus, they don’t have patience, they don’t have any dedication. They don’t even think of prioritizing their business over other things that are not that important and they don’t have a lot of money or they don’t have money at all.

So are you ready for this?

Let’s get started
